Labor and Employment

Success today depends largely upon effective management of people.  Effective labor and employment counsel help manage various factors that may affect success, including the dynamic arising among the company, its workers, and market forces (including government agencies). Practical advice is the result of our knowledge of each client’s business. Maintaining close client relationships allows us to consistently provide the depth, experience, and professional networks necessary to satisfy our clients' needs in the most cost-effective, creative way.

We participate in strategic planning when companies decide whether and how to reduce staffing.  As part of those efforts, we review such decisions and their impact on the workforce under applicable labor and employment laws, including NLRA, WARN, Title VII and ADEA. When necessary, we defend businesses and essential personnel in litigation and with labor boards arising out of staffing decisions.

Well-written employment policies and procedures are the cornerstone to providing defenses to employee claims and aiding employers in maintaining an environment free from outside interference.  We have extensive experience in providing employment policies and practices that ensure our clients the greatest amount of protection under the law.  It is our goal to provide policies and practices on the entire spectrum of relationships between employers and employees, each tailored to a client’s specific circumstances and needs.

Varying from state to state, workers’ compensation laws are designed to ensure that employees who are injured or disabled on the job are provided with compensation and medical benefits, reducing the litigation between employers and their employees.  These laws may also provide benefits for dependents of workers who are hurt because of work-related accidents or illnesses.   Our labor and employment attorneys regularly assist clients with the compliance issues involved in obtaining and sustaining workers’ compensation insurance.  With an intimate knowledge of the procedures associated with workers’ compensation administration, claims procedures and litigation, our attorneys work with employers to defend workers’ compensation claims in both administrative and court settings.
